Once it has been painted with a high-quality, protective paint it is not likely to get chipped or peeled off. The best thing is that it continues to look like any beautiful wood but there is no fear of its getting damaged by water. Any kind of external wall of homes can be covered with cement fiber, and in various cases the soffits too.
Fiber cement board siding is the ideal material for homes located in areas that face high winds or are prone to fires due its high resistance. Termites or such harmful bugs don’t find this siding friendly. This siding is least affected my moisture.
The style of this siding is as good as other plywood patterns. Both siding options, smooth or embossed, give the looks of real wood. A very prominent difference that one notices while installing is that the fiber cement board siding weighs just half of composite siding of the same size.
Durability of Cement Board Siding
Fiber cement siding may be installed in many different ways. Many of the ways for its installation are akin to installation of normal wood siding. A very well accepted method of installation involves strapping of siding with nails or wood screws on a wood frame.

Very insightful post! Thanks Jason for sharing this information. My home has cement board siding installed, and I simply love it. I don't have to worry about siding deterioration like when I had vinyl siding several years ago. Not to mention, the 50 year warranty on it is a plus in my book. Anyone needing new siding should definitely consider cement board siding if cost is not an issue. It is fairly expensive, but, in my opinion, it is worth every penny.
